Advocacy groups' report finds widespread collection of biometric data threatens privacy rights
WASHINGTON -- Government agencies are preparing to expand their collection of biometric data to better identify foreigners who overstay their visas, but a new report says that's not a good idea.
Collecting such data raises privacy concerns and could result in "huge negative consequences for U.S. citizens and legal immigrants mistakenly identified," Michele Waslin, senior policy analyst at the non-partisan Immigration Policy Center, told reporters in a conference call Wednesday.
